ABOUT ME
Ariana Ciccu was born in Messina, Sicily, Italy and lived there until she was 29 years old. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication & Marketing and a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Perugia. Her passion for teaching Italian to foreign students started during the second year of college when she was looking for a job to pay for some of her college expenses. Soon the need became a passion to the point that she continued teaching foreign language students who were attending the University of Perugia throughout her course of study and after graduating while pursuing her career in journalism.
In 2011 she arrived in Seattle with her husband in pursuit of the American dream and better opportunities for her future children. Within weeks of her arrival in Seattle she began working at the Seattle Language International School (SLI) where she held Italian language and culture classes for students of all levels, from introductory to conversational and all ages: with her diligence and passion she worked there as a teacher until SLI’s closure in April 2015. During those same years she also taught beginning level Italian language and culture courses to UW Honors Summer Rome Program students in order to prepare them for their summer courses abroad.
Arianna’s desire for a career change in 2015, brought her to accept positions in a corporate environment working for Booking.com, Microsoft and Welocalize where she is still applying her language related skills to the daily job responsibilities. However, during the last four years her passion for sharing her love of Italian language and culture was so strong that she continued to occasionally teach her most faithful students, met at the language school.
Now Arianna is ready and eager for a new teaching adventure which combines her expertise in teaching with her corporate knowledge. She has decided to found Italiano4you with the goal to teach Italian language and culture to the new generation of Seattle Italophiles who want to thoroughly experience the language and culture associated with the famous Dolce Vita lifestyle.
Arianna is also a wife and mom of two bilingual children. In her free time she enjoys yoga , baking pizza and travelling. She travels to Italy once a year to touch base, experience her heritage first hand and enhance her teaching methods.
